Codecademy was founded in 2011 and has grown to over 10 million users who have learned how to build websites, mobile apps and games with their tutorials. If you’re just starting out with coding, Codecademy provides interactive lessons that can be completed entirely online without any other equipment needed. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to create your own website or app using these tutorials as an outline. However, if you’re looking for something more hands-on there are Code Experience workshops which take place once a month and provide opportunities to explore new technologies while working in small groups led by instructors. These workshops include all necessary materials and snacks, making them perfect for those who don’t live close to major cities.
Codecademy also offers Code Immersion Intensives every summer designed specifically for teachers. These intensives focus on how coding can enhance teaching skills so educators get the most out of their time outside of school. Depending on what part of the country you live in, there may be different offerings depending on your region’s needs.
There are also plenty of resources for parents and educators alike that teach kids how to code. For example, they offer Coding Playtime kits which give adults everything they need to teach coding to children aged 4+, such as laptops loaded with ScratchJr., puzzles and story books. We suggest taking advantage of these resources before children grow up thinking computers only exist inside classrooms and not everywhere else!
